We Are Central to Everything the Black Hills Has to Offer!

Are you looking for a relaxing getaway?
Consider Campfire Cabins and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Black Hills.

Spend your days visiting historic landmarks, quaint Black Hills towns, or parks and lakes, then come back to your cabin to rest and relax by our large campfire site. As you sit out and enjoy the campfire, you can see the stars with no light pollution. Depending on the time of year you can hear the owls calling to one another, hear the singing of the coyotes, the bugling of the elk, or listen to the turkey as they get ready to roost. Our cabins help you to enjoy the action packed days of your vacation even more by giving you a place to come and relax and enjoy nature at the end of your day.

These cabins are centrally located to everything the Black Hills has to offer! We are just 2 miles from Pactola lake, located along Highway 385, pavement the entire way with only a short gravel drive to the cabins.

Our cabins are modern and have tasteful finishes. Decorated in the genre of wildlife, Black Hills history and Native American traditions of the local area. We have used locally sourced materials in our building as well as highlighting local artists in our decor. Each master bed is covered with an authentic hand made native star quilt.

What Our Guests Say!

I cannot say enough about Campfire Cabins!! We rented 4 units for our large extended family group. There was plenty of room for everyone to sleep comfortably and the cabins were furnished with everything you could need, as well as some nice little extras like fresh eggs from their farm, plenty of coffee/tea items, extra pillows, and fluffy towels! Sarah and Al were very friendly and helpful. It was more like staying at a good friend’s house than a rental! I highly recommend a stay at this great location!read more

Amazing location in the middle of the Black Hills. The cabin was perfect for our family of 4. It had a feeling of a home away from home. Our teenage boys loved the loft sleeping area. Fresh eggs were a special treat! Looking forward to our next stay.

Nothing but positive things to say. From start to finish the entire experience of renting a cabin from Campfire Cabins was fantastic. Sarah was incredibly accessible and responsive to questions before we arrived and everything went extremely smoothly when we arrived. The cabins are top-notch, well constructed and cared for. We rented an ATV from them and it was in impeccable condition. Al provided a great rundown on the trails and nearby sites to hit.You can't beat their location, it is close to just about every major attraction in the Black Hills area...close enough to everything but far enough away to enjoy the serenity and beauty of the area. If it wasn't as far from home, I would return in a heartbeat. Al and Sarah were incredibly hospitable and helpful. Good people that make a great experience fantastic. I could go on...I highly recommend Campfire Cabins.read more

I can't recommend this place highly enough. We stayed here for almost a week while on vacation in the black hills. The cabins are awesome. Even though they're four years old they look like new. The owners do a fantastic job. They're the perfect size for our family of four. We hung out with the other people staying in the cabins two nights in the common area around the camp fire. So much fun talking to people from all across the country. The owners even came out and sat and talked with everyone. They are fairly centrally located from all the little towns and places to go. At night the stars are amazing and it is very quiet. They even bring you eggs from their chickens. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen has all the tools you need for making food there, there's wifi in every cabin, and the heating and air conditioning keep them just where you want them temperature wise. It was a great experience and we are already planning a return trip to stay here again!read more

I couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay! The cabin was probably the cleanest rental I’ve ever visited, and it was very cozy and affordable. Everything was in great condition and conveniently located. The Campfire Cabins were both easy to find and easy to get to. Not to mention, the hospitality was incredible. The hosts were easily accessible, and there was a large variety of movies and games (both indoor and outdoor). Additionally, they provided a list of the many things to do in the area and good WiFi. There were also necessary kitchen supplies, complimentary snacks, and even fresh eggs for guests! Our vacation wouldn’t have been nearly as good without Campfire Cabins. I would highly recommend staying here!read more

We recently stayed in Cabin 1 and this whole experience was top notch. Sarah and Al have literally thought of everything when it comes to spoiling their guests. The cabin was amazing, clean and well stocked. The location is superb, we were able to go do something with minimal travel each direction. We loved having the fresh farm eggs in the morning and sitting outside watching the wildlife over coffee in the early morning. We even got to be entertained by their cat, Rocket (which my 4 year old adored). I would highly recommend staying here and I know my family and I will certainly be planning a return visit soon.read more

We had such an amazing trip to the black hills and were thrilled with the hospitality of campfire cabins. We had 4 kids sleeping comfortably on the loft and made use of the kitchen everyday. Our family of 5 just completed our stay at Campfire cabins. The cabin was set up perfectly to separate the kids from adults, offering a little more privacy than a hotel room. It was well stocked with supplies and the kids especially appreciated the snacks left by the owners for our enjoyment. We loved having movies to watch and games to play in our down time. Our favorite part of the stay was getting to tour the grounds with Al and meet all of the animals. We definitely recommend Campfire Cabins and would be happy to visit again in the future!read more
We only stayed one night and wished we had extended it. LOVED the cabin, location and visiting Sarah and learning about the chickens and goats. Only wish it hadn’t been so windy so we could have built a fire and played bean bag toss. The cabin was well stocked and extremely clean!!!

Stayed here as a family of four for 5 days. PERFECT location and the kids loved sleeping in the loft space. Very nice layout with a ton of games and things to do set up for kids around the central firepit. The hosts are amazing and are there to make sure you have everything you need. Full kitchens come stocked with condiments, spices, seasonings, farm fresh eggs and coffee/coffee maker. Can't say enough how much of a value this place is. We loved our stay at Campfire Cabins! Al and Sarah are so welcoming and literally thought of everything to make our stay comfortable and fun. Cabins are very clean and include every amenity you could ever need. Kitchen is fully stocked and we ended up making most of our meals there to save money. We loved the fresh eggs from their chickens that were in the fridge upon our arrival. They are centrally located to all of the Black Hills attractions, yet quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of town, which we loved. There is a grill and fire pit with wood and grilling utensils available for guest use. We thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Al and Sarah around the campfire and appreciate them taking time out of their day to come down and talk to us. My husband also loved being only a few miles from Pactola Lake, where he was able to fish. We highly recommend Campfire Cabins and will definitely be staying again on our next trip to South Dakota.read more

These are beautiful cabins in a great, central location in the Black Hills. Our cabin was very clean, comfortable and well-stocked, including farm-fresh eggs. Sarah (owner) was friendly when we reserved the cabin via phone and responsive prior to our arrival. She was available if needed during our stay. We used the gas grill available in the common area one night and enjoyed the early mornings on the front porch for coffee and quiet time. The view of the meadow and the mountains was very nice, and we enjoyed seeing the chickens, goats, cows and cats on the property. We would stay here again for sure.read more

I have traveled extensively over the years and this gem is by far my favorite stay anywhere. The cabins are truly centrally located. I never spent more than 30 minutes in the car getting to any of the many wonderful hiking trails, attractions or small towns , wineries etc. The cabin itself is surprisingly spacious and very cozy. It feels like home. From the toiletries and personal care supplies in the bathroom(which you will not find in a hotel) to a well supplied kitchen and DVDs and Books!! The farm fresh eggs were a special treat and the peace and quiet were just what I needed. Busy days hiking, sightseeing or whatever tickles your fancy.. Coming back to the cabin is a great end to the day!! I can’t wait to visit again. You will not be disappointed!!!read more

We had an amazing stay at Campfire Cabins. The cabins are new and clean, and our girls loved sleeping in the loft. This was our first trip to South Dakota. The Campfire Cabins were a perfect place to stay. Cabins were very clean and stocked well with everything you might need. They were in a good location to many of the major sites.to see. The owners were very welcoming and helpful. Would definitely recommend!

Let me just tell you about this little hidden gem. First of all, the owners Sarah and Al are simply amazing. They are some of the most gracious and hospitable people we have met. Would come down nightly to spend time at their campfire and offer smores to guests. Their cabins are clean, modern, cozy and surprisingly spacious for only being 320 sq ft. Full kitchen and bath is awesome to have as well as all the extras like condiments, coffee, dishes and glasses. It's your home away from home and so centrally located to all the attractions South Dakota has to offer. The beds are comfy and the kids really loved their bedroom space in the loft. An added bonus is they live right there on the property and are always a phone call away with requests when needed. Plus their farm animals were a great hit for our girls. Some city kids got to spend some cuddle time with new baby bunnies and goats. They also have chickens that will give you fresh eggs to eat. Seriously, check this place out. You won't regret it.read more
