We Are Central to Everything the Black Hills Has to Offer!

Are you looking for a relaxing getaway?
Consider Campfire Cabins and enjoy the beautiful scenery and family friendly atmosphere in the heart of the Black Hills!

Spend your days visiting historic landmarks, quaint Black Hills towns, or parks and lakes, then come back to your cabin to rest and relax by our large campfire site. As you sit out and enjoy the campfire, you can see the stars with no light pollution. Depending on the time of year you can hear the owls calling to one another, hear the singing of the coyotes, the bugling of the elk, or listen to the turkey as they get ready to roost. Our cabins help you to enjoy the action-packed days of your vacation even more by giving you a place to come and relax and enjoy nature at the end of your day.

The cabins are within 45 minutes or less of nearly all the Hills favorites such as Mt. Rushmore, Custer State Park, Historic Deadwood, and Sturgis.  We are just 2 miles from Pactola lake, located along Highway 385, pavement the entire way with only a short gravel drive to the cabins.  We are surrounded by hundreds of diverse trails including the Centennial Trail and George S. Mickelson Trail for hiking and biking, and the Black Hills National Forest OHV trail system.  Deer Creek Homestead operates on 6 acres just a short walk from the cabins.  If you are interested in any of the animals or workings of a small hobby farm, tours are available most evenings.

Experience year-round comfort in our cozy, modern, fully stocked cabins!  Designed for your convenience, each cabin features a full-size kitchen and private bath.  All our cabins are heated, air conditioned, and have Wi-Fi.  Take advantage of our guest laundry, dedicated trailer parking, and complimentary firewood!  Call today and join us around the campfire!

WHAT AN AMAZING PLACE! We recently stayed for a week to ride the black hills. Sarah and AL go over the top to make their guest experience nothing short of amazing. Centrally located to all the attactions and riding. The Cabin is exactly what they describe and even better. From the farm fresh eggs, the Goats (our favorite part) visiting you in the morning, to the welcome basket and the small touches like the bow on the TP. Sarah reached out several times during our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. This place has everything you need to make your stay unforgettable. We're already planning to stay again next year.

Beautiful location, very clean and so many wonderful views! They provided clean eggs, bonfire supplies, games and movies and let you wander their property and feed the goats! We enjoyed our time there thoroughly!

My family of 5 recently stayed here for 2 nights and then at a hotel for 2 nights while visiting the Black Hills area for the first time. Campfire Cabins was a fantastic spot - it was in a great location for us to access the many different places we wanted to visit. The hospitality here was incredible. We felt very welcomed from the moment we arrived and loved the cabin we stayed in. It was very clean and well kept. Our kids loved feeding the goats that would greet us at our front door! The only regret we had was not booking for more nights here.

I hiked the Centennial Trail in South Dakota a few years ago with a couple of friends. We ended up staying at the Campfire Cabins as a resupply stop on our backpacking trip (Sarah picked us up from the trailhead a few miles away). I was able to experience how magical this place is and how great the hospitality Sarah and Al provide for you when you visit. I knew then I just had to plan a future trip to come back with my family so they could experience this place! Just a few days ago my family (wife and two teenage daughters) and I stayed in one of the larger cabins for 3 nights. We had a wonderful time! The cabins were great for our family as they had all that we needed to cook meals and were comfy for all of us to rest when we returned from long days of touring the area. This place is central to lots of things in the Black Hills. We spent a day touring Wind Cave National park underground (be sure to get advance tickets) and above ground, ate lunch at the Dockside Grill at Legion Lake (also highly recommend), another short drive over to Jewel Cave, then up to Mount Rushmore before returning to the Campfire Cabins to relax and hang out with the goats and chickens. The next day we went north to Bear Butte (the finish of the Centennial Trail and a great 360 view, but not an easy trail!), then west on the highway to Minuteman Missile National Monument and Badlands National Park, and then back to Campfire Cabins where Sarah and Al gave us a tour of the farm. My kids and wife absolutely LOVED this place and I cannot recommend it enough if you are visiting the Black Hills and want to make some amazing memories!

Our church men's group had an outstanding stay at Campfire Cabins, and we can't recommend it highly enough. The cabins were spotless, comfortable, and had everything we needed. You can tell the owners genuinely care about their property, because every detail is well maintained. The peaceful setting made it the perfect place for fellowship, relaxation, and enjoying the beauty of the Black Hills. The animals were an unexpected highlight of the trip. We spent way more time than a group of grown men would probably like to admit playing with the goats and petting the rabbits. They were friendly, well cared for, and added so much charm to the property. It was impossible not to smile. And then there's Aaron, the owners son. Every business hopes they have an employee like Aaron, but the truth is, there probably isn't another one. His hospitality is second to none. He anticipated our needs before we even had to ask, treated us like lifelong friends instead of guests, and somehow made us feel like we were the most important people on the property. His kindness, work ethic, and servant's heart are rare, and he single-handedly turned a great stay into an unforgettable one. If Campfire Cabins has become a special place, Aaron is a huge reason why. We'll absolutely be back, and we'll be telling everyone we know that Campfire Cabins is the place to stay in the Black Hills.

Campfire Cabins was a great place to stay for my bachelor party. Three of us fit very comfortably in a 400 sqft deluxe cabin. It was super clean upon arrival and the AC was ice cold. The cabin was equipped with toiletries, sheets, towels, coffee makers / coffee grounds / Keurig pods, and just about anything else you'd need for your stay. The owners are more than happy to provide anything additional by just calling or texting them. As others have mentioned, the centralized location of the cabins makes day trips to major attractions and other activities in the Black Hills very convenient. Finally, their free-range farm animals (goats, chickens, turkeys, rabbits) that roam around the campground are so cool and would be fun for both kids and adults. Five stars to Campfire Cabins, I would definitely go back!

Amazing host that makes sure you have what you need for your stay. Small details matter and they hit them all. Located in the middle of all the area attractions which makes it even better for planning your days when visiting the Black Hills area.

We recently stayed in the Family Cabin and found it to be more than we could have imagined. It was very enjoyable and peaceful. The cabin had everything we needed and more for the time we were there. The grandchildren enjoyed the farm animals. The owners go above and beyond with their hospitality. It was an awesome experience and recommend Campfire Cabins to anyone visiting the Black Hills.

Perfect! Cozy, clean and comfortable. It was in the perfect place to be right in the middle of all the popular destinations in SD. Family friendly fun ! Can't wait to go back. The animals walking around made it even more fun for kids. We Would definitely recommend, especially to families with kiddos. The owners are very friendly and caring.

We spent six wonderful nights in cozy cabin #9 and couldn’t have asked for a better home base for our trip. The cabin was spotless, comfortable, and filled with thoughtful touches that made it feel like home. One of the best parts was its central location — perfect for taking day trips in every direction. We were able to explore nearby towns, hiking trails, and national parks, all within an easy drive, and it was great to come back each evening to such a peaceful and inviting space. The hosts were fantastic — friendly, responsive, and clearly take great care in maintaining the cabin. From the well-equipped kitchen to the comfortable bed and relaxing outdoor space, every detail was just right. Our kids really enjoyed their own private loft space too. The hosts even followed up after we returned to Florida to ask if there was anything they could do to improve! We truly enjoyed our stay and will absolutely come back. This cabin is ideal for anyone looking for a cozy retreat that’s both relaxing and perfectly situated for exploring the area!

We stayed in the Family Cabin & had friends and family in 4 of the smaller cabins. All of the cabins were spotless and everyone loved the personal touches/extras—even fresh eggs in the fridge! We hosted a dinner in the Family Cabin, we had 16 people & plenty of room! We found extra folding chairs in the garage & the kitchen had everything we needed. The coffee bar was well stocked too. The kids wanted pancakes the next morning but we didn’t bring the ‘stuff’. No worries—scan the QR code & it will be delivered to your door!! Old fashioned hospitality with amazing customer service!! Above & beyond!!

What a wonderful experience we had at Campfire Cabins. We rented the family cabin for 7 days and 8 nights. We could not have been happier with the accommodations! The kitchen was fully equipped with a full-sized refrigerator, coffee makers, stove and everything with which one needs for cooking. The beds are very comfortable and the bathrooms were very nice and clean. Plenty of hot water! The cabin is even equipped with a quality washer and dryer. There were six of us in our group (including two young children) and there was plenty of room for all of us. The family cabin is up on a hill and it is very quiet. The location is close to all of the towns and attractions around Rapid City. We simply loved staying there! Sarah and Al are fantastic hosts! What a wonderful experience! We hated to leave!

We stayed one night while passing through the Black Hills and stayed at a wonderful small cabin at Campfire Cabins. There was three of us guys and there was perfectly three beds, it was very clean, modern, and extremely well stocked with a very thoughtful welcome basket for us. 100% will call hoping for vacancy when heading west again and hopefully will plan a longer stay in the hills because it is in a nice location as well. Thank you campfire cabins for a great stay! Kent, Rochester, Mn

We stayed for a full week in late September. Days prior to our arrival, Sarah provided us with a welcome email/text with check-in information and if we had any questions/concerns or special needs to contact her. I found this to be above expectations. The cabins are very clean and amenities in the cabins (books, games and movies) are a nice touch. We had awesome weather; we did not spend much time in the cabins except to sleep. Up early, had coffee with the goats and rabbits, sometime the turkeys would stop by, then off to find a different hiking trails. The cabin kitchen is functionally supplied to cook your own meals if you wish, also laundry equipment on site, (they provide the laundry supplies too). We will be staying there again with out question. Sarah and Al have a little piece of heaven and are very sweet to share it with you.
